A Study on Intelligence and Academic Achievement of Secondary Students

Abstract

Education is considered as a potent instrument through which processes modernization and social change come to existence. Education gives an individual the capacity to adapt to change. Secondary education is considered as a nation building education. Man is bestowed with certain mental abilities which male him a rational being. Man primarily distinguishable from other living beings because he is bestowed with higher intelligence. The present study aimed to study the level of intelligence of secondary students. It also aimed to study the academic achievement of students and relationship between intelligence and academic achievement of the students. The sample of the study was 100. The sample was selected on the basis of simple random sampling method. A standardized Scale was used to collect the data related to intelligence and very simple statistical methods i.e. percentage and correlation were used for analyse the data. The study revealed that there is a significant positive relationship between intelligence and academic achievement of the students.
