Abstract

The number of amputees in Iraq is large and capable of increasing, and this is due to birth defects and the effects of war, explosives and accidents, usually a large number of amputations across the thigh or over the knee (AK) represent a large percentage of the amputations that affect a person in the rest of his body.  In this project manufacturing a socket mix of flexible and rigid materials. This socket is made from two the first for bearing weight are made from rigid materials and the second part are made from flexible to allow muscles to change shape while contracting during gait; increased comfort, increase stability and increased control uses a combination of composite materials (silicon, carbon, perlon, laminate), this project provide more suspension because use silicone and the other goal is especially for a patient AK amputation. Because of the elasticity of silicon, it reduces the likelihood of the patient getting scoliosis while sitting and prevents back pain. The appearance of a socket under appropriate clothing and doffing and donning the socket is easier than the solid socket and the socket weight is lighter than conventional solid socket. The result of tensile test for silicon with perlon are ?ult =1.386MPa, ?y =0.283MPa and E=0.0165GPa. The maximum pressure of F-socket for patient with above knee amputation wearing flexible socket are (490Kpa) at the anterior region.
