Abstract

The declining level of political participation of urban communities in Kampung Kepaon indicates a rise in the number of white groups (golput), which is above 50%. This is an indication political apathy in the 2015 election was shocking. This study aims to determine the political participation of urban communities in the 2015 Election in Kampung Muslim Kepaon, South Denpasar District. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The results showed that there are six forms of political participation implemented by urban community in Kampung Kepaon in Pemilukada 2015, namely voting, campaign activities and political discussion, understanding various political and social problems by following the political news both intralal and external through media mass, and obeying the government, accepting and implementing government decisions, criticizing and improving policies. The inhibiting factors of political participation of the urban community as a whole are living outside Kampung Kepaon, busy work, busy as students, low government trust, lack of political education, no money to vote, busy housekeeping, feeling of inadequacy, lack of political socialization and weakness in the preparation of DPT. Factors driving the political participation of urban communities are the acceptance of political incentives, personal characteristics and social characteristics, and a conducive political environment. The conclusion of this research is political participation of urban society in election of Denpasar City 2015 is classified as passive participation, because most informants do not participate in election activity. Although classified as passive participation, some of them are included in active political participation, that is by obeying the government, accepting and implementing every government decision, in this case receiving the final result of 2015 election. The suggestion given is to optimize the function of political party as a means of aspiration community. Clean up the cadres involved in corruption issues. Developing new media and technology in socializing and campaigning. Increase social actions. Engage actively in encouraging and supporting community or community activities. To nominate the best cadres who have integrity, goodness and ability in the presidential election.
