Abstract

The purpose of the paper is to explore the impact of different partnering modes and partnership on the risk performance and sharing of construction projects. The paper applies the method of comparative research. It is found that the contractor’s early intervention in the project can makes guan xi, namely the relationship between the both parties more harmonious and there is more tactic understanding on the partnering between the personnel, which can eliminate some of the micro-risks in the project, but cannot change the dominant position of the owner in risk allocation and the awareness of self-interest priority. Confronted with the same risk factor, the two parties can change the consequences of risk factors of some construction projects through deep integration of resources and business under different partnership, indicating that the partnership has an indirect impact on the risk consequences. During the partnering process, the two parties have full autonomy over the matters within the scope of their respective responsibility, and the basic rights and interests are guaranteed under low-intensity competition, which help to realize the principle of risk allocation based on “the ability of controlling risks” and achieve fairer risk allocation. The research in this paper makes up for the gap of researches on the connectivity between partnership and risks in the presently available research literature.
