Abstract

Based on the provincial regional data in mainland China from 2005 to 2017, this paper conducts
a quantitative investigation of the Internet development status in various provinces and cities through the
establishment of the Internet development index evaluation system, and uses OLS regression model and
Spatial Durbin Model to jointly test the influence of Internet development level on the China's economic
growth quality. From the results of the research we can see that the Internet development level of the eastern
region is higher than that of the central and western regions. The influence of Internet development level on
the quality of economic growth has a spatial effect, and there are significant regional differences. Overall,
the Internet development can significantly improve the quality of China's economic growth; from the
regional perspective, the development level of the Internet has a greater impact on the economic growth
quality in the central and western regions than in the eastern regions. Based on this, this paper puts forward
relevant policy enlightenment for comprehensively improving the Internet development level in China and
driving the high-quality development of China's economy.
