Abstract

Power out ages is still a prevalent problem in rural India. Many villages do not receive electric power for more than
twelve hours in a day. This has led to the increase in demand of UPS systems. But, the UPS systems in the market
are not affordable by low-income groups in the villages. The proposed product is an affordable and easy to use
alternative to the existing UPS technologies. The product will provide backup power for single lighting devices like
tube lights for over two hours. It is compact and mobile device that can easily be attached to any tube light. The
simulation of the circuit is performed using LT Spice software and hardware design of the product is discussed. The
product is mainly targeted towards the low-income households in rural India.
