Abstract

This article deals with the modeling of the pentagonal patch antenna. Graphene is used as a patch and ground plane. The characteristics of this modeled antenna are compared with the characteristics of other antenna models that use different substrates viz.polyimide and  Sio2. The graphene patch antenna is mounted on polyimide and Sio2 substrate and its radiation properties are studied and to tune in the frequency of 3.851 THz and 4.719THz respectively. The modeled antenna that uses graphene with optical transparency silicon dioxide substrate is found to have a  peak gain of 4.921dB and directivity of  8.57dBi at tuning frequency 4.719 THz.The above said characteristic is better than the models that use polyimide substrate which achieves a  gain of 2.18dB and 6.39 dBi directivity resonating at 3.851THz.The bandwidth of polyimide substrate is 1.3THz which is comparatively wider than that is achieved in  Sio2 (0.8THz). The above said antenna types act as detectors in surface Plasmon resonances, cancer detection in the field of biomedicine, future 5G technology and to transfer data between GEO and LEO satellites in space. The Simulation is carried out using CST studio 2016
