Knowledge And Awareness Of Health Insurance Policy Among Insured Patients In Multi-Specialty Hospital, Chennai

Abstract

Health Insurance is the fastest growing industry and gaining momentum in India. People who buy insurance policies are not aware of the coverage of the policy. The intermediaries sell their products and enjoy the benefits once they achieve targets. At the time of hospitalization, the patient understands the pros and cons of the policy. This study explores the knowledge and awareness of Health Insurance in Multi-specialty hospital.  The Inpatients who hospitalized under health insurance taken for this study as a respondent. The study design was descriptive and primary data collected with a closed-ended questionnaire and analyzed with SPSS. The findings of the study showed that 74.6% of the respondents were aware of the health insurance policy, and there was an association between income and health insurance coverage.
