The Awareness of the Millenial Generation Toward Madihin as the Communication Media of Forest Fire Problems in theMarabahan Peat Areal, South Borneo, Among the Negeri 7 State Vocational High School Students in the Regency of Tangerang

Abstract

the millenial generations who live in the big cities such as jakarta and alike should be familiar with the peculiarity of the indonesian cultures, one of which is madihin from the province of south borneo. Madihin art is a traditional communication within the people of banjar that can help the government to improve the public awareness toward the problems that the society in the province of south borneo have been dealing with, including the forest fire in marabahan peat area located in the regency of barito kuala. With regards to the statement, the study aims at performing an in-depth analysis toward the students’ understanding on the madihin art as communication media that can be used for raising the awareness of the society toward the probems of the forest fire in the marabahan peat area, the regency of barito kuala, the province of south borneo. In conducting the study, the researchers adopted the quantitative approach with survey as the research method in order to improve the public awareness on the mitigation of the forest fire problem in the marabahan peat area, the regency of barito kuala. The results of the study show that according to the students of negeri 7 state vocational high school, the regency of tangerang, madihin art as communication media has been able to improve the public awareness toward the forest fire problems in the marabahan peat area, the regency of barito kuala. These results have been confirmed by the the results of the statistics test using the product moment correlation, which show that the correlation between x (madihin art) and y (level of public awareness) is equal to 0.410; the adjustment of the result to the interval table 0.410 – 0.599 show that the correlation level belongs to the moderate one. In other words, it can be concluded that the madihin art can improve the public awareness toward the forest fire problems in the marabahan peat area, the regency of barito kuala.
