Abstract

This study is intended to design and develop patient information automation at the University of Northern Philippines Hospital. It determined the processes involved in the manual process, the problems encountered during the operations, and the possible solutions to address these problems. The developed system tends to computerize managing patient records, exceptionally patient registration, patient monitoring, and patient history. The researchers used the Rapid Application Development (RAD) methodology to design and develop the system. For data analysis, different tools were used to interpret the system needs and illustrate each data's relationship. Furthermore, the system requirements identified were: (1) capability of the system to register; (2) system's security measures; (3) capability of the system to add, update, and delete records; (4) capability of the system to handle dispensing prescription; (5) capability of the system to store and manage patient diagnostic test and records; (6) capability of the system to suggest proper foods intake; and (7) capability of the system to generate of reports. It is recommended that the Automated Patient Information for the University of Northern Philippines Hospital should be implemented to the university hospital to aid the problems encountered in the current system used. Thus, users of the system must undergo training, and further study should be performed to assess the overall performance of the study.
