Abstract

The harvesting of energy from radio frequency (RF) is the process by which the energy from the electromagnetic radio spectrum is collected and converted into usable electrical energy for electrical devices. In this proposed work RF energy harvesting method is investigated and ring-based microstrip patch antenna is designed for RF signal harvesting and measured and simulated results shows that designed antenna achieves impedance bandwidth of 1.1 GHz and 1.25 GHz, gain of 4.35 and 4.9 dB & radiation efficiency of 96% and 89 % at the resonance frequency of Wi-Fi frequency band (2.45 GHz and 5 GHz respectively). Proposed ring-based circular patch antenna can be employed to harvest the signal at both Wi-Fi frequency band.
