Undoubtedly, without the active participation of women in national activities, the social, economic or political progress of a country will deteriorate and become stagnant. Women hold a position of distinct characteristics in the family and society. The position of women in any society is a significant pointer to the level of culture of that society. "The position of Indian women increasingly deteriorated during the pre-British period. During this phase, women sometimes was considered a goddess and at other times a slave but never a human being with a personality. However, the Gandhian era and the decades after independence have brought a some tremendous changes in the status of women in Indian society. The present study investigated to identify the factors preventing women employees from aspiring for higher post and challenges & problems faced by women workers. Further the study attempts to describe the real condition of working women in India and also make an effort to clear main problems of working women.
