Abstract

Abstract- Electrocardiogram provides the information about the health of heart.
There are noises in the surroundings which contaminate the ECG signal. Reduction of this noise is an essential step in cardiac signal processing. This paper describes the use of wavelet transform for denoising of ECG. Comparison of different types of wavelet for noise has been done for the selection of optimal wavelet. Higher Signal to Noise ratio obtained by dmey wavelet for base line drift and power line interference. Sym4 gives higher response for high-frequency noise. Threshold of wavelet transform also compared for different noises. ECG record from the Arrhythmia Database of MIT-BIH is used for the testing of the algorithm.
