Abstract

The paper aims to simulate the performance of Semi active suspension using a PID controller by applying suitable simulation model for a suspension system. The simulation is carried out on the same model which is controlled by a Fuzzy Logic controller and PID controller. The simulations of both the models are analyzed for the better understanding of the performance between the two. The effect of control parameters and time delays in the transmission of control signals on the factors related to comfort and safety of driving is investigated. The results obtained from simulations are shown in the form of frequency graphs for selected performance factors.

For the purpose of checking the concepts of semi active car suspensions, a Matlab Simulink model is designed based on the specification of an actual system. This system is represented in the form of mathematical block diagrams in the Simulink software. In the numerical solution performed to analyze the behavior of the suspension system the knowledge of the functions describing the kinematic excitation acting on vehicle is essential.
