Emerging Trends In Modern Curriculum And Its Relevance

Abstract

Education is the process of development. The main objective of education is all round personality development of the children. Education involves three processes: Teaching, Training and Instruction. Through these processes learning experiences is provided to the children, teaching and learning needs content to make the process successful. Content is the means for organizing teaching activities. Curriculum is dynamic by nature and it tries to meet all the needs and demands of the children and community. An outline of the content in narrow sense is termed as curriculum. Curriculum is one of the most important pole of teaching-learning process. From the early system of education, i.e. Vedic period, curriculum is regarded as the main aspect of education system. But, the scope of curriculum was narrow. Society is changing very rapidly, different modern aspects come in the social system as a result the needs and demands of the community are also changed. Traditional curriculum does not cater to the modern social system. The concept of curriculum is also changed with the change of the social system. Various emerging trends come under the concept of modern curriculum.  The scope of modern curriculum becomes wider as compared to the traditional curriculum. Online courses, smart classroom, digital library, e-learning, m-learning etc. are the new trends in the modern curriculum.
