Abstract

The Malaysian Army has more than 8,000 vehicles valued at more than RM 4 Billion provided to the formations and units. The Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineer Corps is responsible to maintain the vehicles and the Royal Ordnance Corps is responsible for the provision of servicing and repair parts. This research adapts the qualitative methodology using case study strategy. Data collection was based on Delphi techniques with four rounds of data collection through focus group discussions, surveys, inteviews and document review. The main findings of this research was the inadequacy of fund that forced the organisation to manage and adjust accordingly and subsequently concentrate in crucial areas to ensure the readiness level is at the maximum level especially that deals with military operations. It is timely to have a centralised vehicle record, maintenance and servicing, availability and readiness level, strategic viewpoint along with handling of demand from the unit levels to the central depot and also the headquarters for monitoring and management of vehicles, maintenances and inventory spare parts management.
