Abstract

Since the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a new era and the regional coordination strategy has been steadily promoted. The central region must take advantages of geographical position, break a new path of high-quality development, and take a farther step towards the rise of the Central China. On the foundation of a comprehensive learning of the connotation of high-quality economic development, this paper grasps the principles of comprehensiveness, scientificity and measurability, and constructs an evaluation index system, which is formed by 31 indicators for five major parts: economic vitality, innovative development, green and low-carbon, shared achievements and opening up. The formed evaluation index system uses a comprehensive evaluation method to measure the economy level of the six provinces in the central China, from 2014 to 2018. The results indicate that the comprehensive index in the central China has increased year after year, but the regional development is uneven. Hubei has long been a leader, Shanxi has been relatively backward, and the rest of the provinces have shown dynamic trends. Based on this, it is of great reference significance for the central region to build a modernized economic system and realize collaborative high-quality development.
