Abstract

The research compares the uniqueness and advantages of the two leading flexible course credit systems: “Mini Academic Credits” of Feng Chia University (FCU, Taiwan region) and “Second Class Transcript” of Minjiang University (MJU, Chinese mainland). The FCU “Mini Academic Credits” is a supplementary course which provide a series of 2 academic credit packages which are selected by participants according to their preference and interest, but lack of efficient tool (like the MJU “Second Class Transcript” APP) for students and administration to manage and evaluate the class. The MJU “Second Class Transcript” is a compulsory extra curriculum training and activities which required all students must finish 4 academic credits (16 scores) before graduation. The top- down course design is less helpful for students to understand their real interest, but the transcript is a complete and systematic collection of learning data which is helpful for improvement and further design of the class system.
