Abstract

As the population grows and improves its lifestyle, a proportional increase of the consumption of natural resources and energy may occur. Due to the inevitable consequences of this increase, a change of mentality towards the environment has been witnessed. One of the sectors with greater responsibility in the consumption of natural resources and generation of waste is the construction industry. Conservation of natural resources and preservation of the environment is the essence of any modern development. Recycled aggregates (normally called as sustainable aggregates) are made from the materials which are usually recovered from demolition of building projects (JianheXi-eet.al. 2018). These are eco-friendly materials and also reduce the cost of making concrete. The aim of this research work is to determine the strength and durability characteristics of concrete (M20 Grade) made with construction and demolition waste with replacement of 0%, 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, and 50%.
