Abstract

Due to technological innovations and widespread adoption of smartphones, digital payment system is becoming an important channel for tourism organizations to offer interesting service to tourists. The major objective of this study is to explore the perceptions of tourist adoption of digital payment system. Therefore, a comprehensive model is developed by adding two additional Construct – prior technology experience and social influence to the model to extend the applicability of the TAM in context of tourism. Data was collected from 269 tourists through administration of face to face survey and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) approach was used for analysis. The finding demonstrated significant relationship between prior technology experience, social influences and the perceptual beliefs of TAM-perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use, which further influence attitude; the results also show that tourist’s intention is influenced by attitude and social influence.
