Impact of Applying Occupational Safety and Health Programs on Employees Performance in Construction Sector

Abstract

This study aimed to identify the impact of applying occupational safety and health programs on
employees performance in the construction sector, by knowing the available of occupational safety
and health systems and programs in companies working in construction sector, and extent of
commitment to it and its impact on workers safety and productivity.
The study conducted on companies which working in construction sector in Jordan - Aqaba; and the
sample of this study was 262 workers selected in the Stratified sampling method from construction
workers. The survey included sex main factors: Availability of occupational safety and health
programs, follow-up of high management, employees training, Regulations and laws, Follow up the
competent authorities to implement safety procedures inside company and improve employee
performance.
This study adopted two approaches of scientific research methods, descriptive analytical method
and field research methodology, and was used statistical analysis of data (mathematical averages,
standard deviation and Pearson correlation coefficient) for all dimensions of the study, where the
study showed a relationship and an average effect between applying safety and health programs
Professional and performance of employees.
In additional, the results show that the availability of occupational health and safety systems and
programs in the first place and explained 32.6% of the variance in the dependent variable employee
performance, then it was followed by regulations and laws related to occupational safety and health
with which he explained 35.7% of the variance in the variable Sell employee performance, then train
the workers, where he explained 37.3% of the variance in the performance of the workers with the
rest of the dimensions
The study recommended many recommendations that help in implementing occupational safety
and health programs, improve the performance of workers in construction companies, such as
intensifying the role of training in safety programs, and activating the supervisory role of local
