Experimental Investigation on Main Reinforcement with Different Connections by Overlapping, Welding and Mechanical Splicing at Mid Span of Reinforced Cement Concrete beam
Abstract
Present study is focused on structural behaviour of reinforced cement concrete beam of size 150mm x 150mm x1000mm with different types of reinforcement joints such as lap splice, butt weld, and coupler joints in tension zone. Test results reveal that the coupler joint is found to be stronger as well as more economic than other methods joints. Consequently, Flexural and shear capacity of beams were compared with and without joints. In addition analysis was carried out for moment curvature, load deflection curve and shear stress-strain behaviors.
