Impact of Adding Aluminium on the Microstructure and Dry wear properties of Titanium- TantalumAluminium Shape Memory Alloy
Abstract
The Impact of Al addition on the microstructure, stage composition and wear behaviour of Ti-Ta27-
Al HTSMAs were investigated using X-ray diffraction, optical microscopy (OM), scanning electron
microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and dry wear tests. The consequences
demonstrateed that the Ti-Ta27-Al (3-7) HTSMAs are mainly composed of ?-stage and ?? -stage at normal
temperature of room. The consequences demonstrate that the frictional coefficient is unaffected by the Al
content. Ti68-Ta27-Al3 HTSMA was more susceptible to wear compare to other alloys, while the Ti68-Ta27-Al7
HTSMA demonstrates lower volume loss than others.
