Awareness of E-Governance Initiatives in Satara District of Maharashtra State (India)

Abstract

Education plays a major role in the awareness of government services among the citizens.
E-governance service can be availed by those citizens who are literate and having basic knowledge of computer
and the Internet. In digital world, it is called as digital literacy. Now a day’s digital literacy is a key socioeconomic progress measure of modern society and important aspect in Indian context. This is the important
factor related to the usage and awareness of e-governance services. The aim of this study is to know the
citizens’ awareness of e-governance initiatives in the district and to evaluate the effectiveness and performance
of the e-governance services and adoption of e-governance measures in the district. To fulfill these objectives,
this study undertook an empirical evaluation of the e-government awareness among the citizens of the Satara
district
