A Battery Centric Power Aware Algorithm for Mobile Appliances

Abstract

This era belongs to mobile computing and mobile devices which are powered by the secondary batteries. The most common problem encountered by the users is the untimely discharge of the battery. One of the main reasons for the early exhaustion of the battery owes to its improper discharging. Therefore, this necessitates a thorough understanding of the battery electrochemical properties and synchronizing these parameters with load characteristics of appliances to enable the battery to last longer. With the help of such techniques, the survival time of the battery for a single charge can be increased. And this would further increase the number of charging and discharging cycles of the battery be- fore its service life. The work presented in this paper presents an algorithm as well as an experimental study to substantiate the same.
