A STUDY ON EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT IN BANKING INDUSTRY: EMPIRICAL EVIDENCE IN BANGALORE

Abstract

Employee engagement is a word in Human Resource Survey, and the organizations that are successful take pride in implementing employee engagement strategies. Engaged employees in an organization contribute greatly to the organization's performance and become an asset to the organization. Banking is an evolutionary concept. There is continuous expansion and diversification as regards the functions, services and activities of a bank. The use of technology has brought a revolution in working style of the banks. Employees under performing would cost the organization fortune especially in a banking industry where competition is increasing every day. Unmotivated employees will not positively influence the performance of the banks. This article seeks to examine the factors affecting employee involvement among banks in the Bangalore district of Karnataka. Employees from two public banks and two private sector banks in this region were surveyed. The analysis confirms the relevance of the factors for employee involvement and also indicates by the characteristic stimulus that these factors provide for the public sector and banks in the private sector
