The mediating role of Emotional Intelligence between Transformational Leadership and Organizational Citizenship Behavior

Abstract

The study examines the mediating effect of Emotional Intelligence (EI) on Transformational Leadership (TL) and Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) using data collected from 150 respondents who work in IT industries around Kerala. The research hypotheses were formulated from previous literature and tested using IBM SPSS Statistics 21. Results from the study indicated that Emotional Intelligence have a significant impact on the relationship between Transformational Leadership and Organizational Citizenship Behavior of employees in IT sector. The paper implies that to be truly transformational, leadership qualities must be integrated in high levels of Emotional Intelligence.
