Abstract

In recent years, great advances in artificial intelligence algorithms and massive deployments of cloud computing facilities have empowered the computer’s ability to solve all kinds of games and beat top human players. Those games include both ancient ones, e.g., Go, and recent electronic ones, e.g., StarCraft II. The progress has gone beyond this specific area and reached a much wider audience, e.g., the huge attention for the match between DeepMind’s AlphaGo and Korean player Lee Sedol. To facilitate the research in this area, we review recent applications and algorithms of AI technologies for games in this paper. We also summarize some drawbacks of current research and point out some future research directions
