Estimation of Technical Parameters for a PV System

Abstract

India is a country with vast climate change and it receives solar energy throughout the year in many parts of the country especially southern part of India. But most of the power generation is generated via conventional sources of energy. The raw materials for this conventional power generation are depleting very rapidly, and now is the time to generate high amount of power through non-conventional sources like solar, wind, etc. There are many applications like PVSYST, SAM, HELIOSCOPE, etc., by using these applications; the amount of energy that can be generated per annum can be calculated. This paper mainly deals with the comparison of two software applications namely PVSYST and SAM. These software applications deal in studying and analysing of Photo-voltaic systems. In this paper, a grid connected 5kW PV system at different geographical locations in India is designed and the results of both PVSYST Ver. 7 and SAM are compared.
