Abstract

For a secured power system, low frequency electrochemical oscillation damping is prominent which can be effectively managed by Static Synchronous Compensator (STATCOM) controllers. Considering this objective, to enhance and tune the performance of STATCOM controller in power system, the components of STATCOM are needed to be optimized with respective with the objective function. In the STATCOM controller, the four blocks such as AC voltage regulator, DC voltage regulator and current regulator, in which four PI controllers are present. In order to enhance the performance of STATCOM controller, the gains of four PI controllers are optimized, in such a way that the error has to be minimized. Here, the hybridization of Dragonfly Algorithm (DA) and Whale Optimization Algorithm (WOA), so called as Dragonfly based Whale Optimization Algorithm (DWOA) is used for optimization gain of PI controllers. Eventually, the performance of the proposed DWOA model is validated by comparing over the state-of-the-arts models by concerning the significant performance analysis.
