Financial Evaluation of Total Cost of Ownership in Data Center Environment

Abstract

The vast majority of the organizations rely upon non-?nancial, operational metrics aside from in setting up spending plans and estimating the tasks. There are a huge number of metrics to quantify and monitor various parts of data centers. When looking at the relationship between the metrics and challenges associated with utilizing them, it becomes obvious that there is no single metric which covers all dimensions of the datacenter's performance.  In this paper we have proposed total cost of ownership financial impact metric in horizontal form to determine capital expenses and other operational expenses to minimize the total data center cost, critical power consumption of data center, effective cooling capacity and optimizing the cost for project management or facility engineering at different redundancy levels.
