The Impact of Political Factor In The Symbolism Of Architecture Monuments

Abstract

For long, politics has been one of the important tools that shaped the architectural interface around the world. Politics, is an ideological system that has its influence on all aspects of life whether cultural, social and economic or any other related fields including architecture. Hence, architecture becomes the recording file that political concept which embodies and immortalizes its most important events especially through periods and monuments. In addition, architecture is a real historical mark for the period in which the society exited. This study deals with politics as a factor that influences architectural monuments in particular. The study diagnoses the relationship through symbols and their sources. Besides, their affiliation as related to society limited within the ruling political system concept. This after all reflects how politics is interrelated with community and the space of freedom it gets as well as the nature of the subjects with suggested symbols.

Research problems:

Lack of knowledge that is related to political factor, represented in the political system on architectural monuments in Iraq and Kurdistan. Not only this, but also looking at the nature of this impact, and its link to the political system on one hand, and on the other hand its relationship with the society in terms of ideology, time and place.

Research objective:

Diagnose the political factor, represented by the political system, and its effect on the symbolism of architectural monument in Iraq and Kurdistan. Besides taking into consideration the nature of such impact and its link to the political system from one point of view, however, from different prospective it effect on the society’s ideology, time and place.

Research assumption:

Most architectural monument designs are affected directly by the ruling political system and its symbols. Built on such factors then, the relationship between the designs and society is formed through ideology, time and place.
