Abstract

The hot arid climate of the Republic of Karakalpakstan is located on the southern shores of the Aral Sea. At the beginning of the twentieth century in Russia, Uzbekistan and the territory of Karakalpakstan, the number of rooms and areas of traditional housing adapted to the local climate was limited. The secrets of the traditional dwellings of folk architects in this area, with several hundred years of experience closely linked to the climate, have not yet been fully explored by architects. This is due to the fact that during the 70 years of the Soviet era, there was less need for this tradition, as small-scale housing was built. For 29 years of independence, the population has been given the freedom to build large-scale housing, and this tradition has become necessary for the population. In consultation with archaeologists and local elders to study the secrets of the traditional settlements of the XIX-XX centuries, the buildings were graphically restored and it was determined that the building is closely related to the climate. As a result, this article serves as a valuable piece of advice for architects in the construction, selection, planning, construction, elevation of low-rise housing in a region with a modern hot dry climate.
