An Ethno-Botanical Diversity Of Medicinal Plants Found In Chitrakoot, India

Abstract

Present study aims to explore the medicinal plant diversity, indigenous and
medicinal use of plant reported in Chitrakoot region. This study reported that 43 plants of 14
families are used for medicinal purposes.All the plants belong to dicot families. Chitrakoot
forest is the home of numbers of medicinal plants. Local peoples of Chitrakoot primarily
believe on these plants to cure harmful diseases by various methods. So it is necessary to
document the ethno medicinal use and method ofdrug preparation. Ethno botanical surveys
are very useful to diagnose medicinal property of the plant. In this study various remote areas
of Chitrakoot is also covered including manikpur, mau, majhgawan, sati anusiya forest,
Markundi, Shivrampur, Bharatpur, Devangana valley, Bagdara valley. Major group of
plantsused in this region associated with the treatment of Asthma, Diabetes, Kidney stone,
itches, wound healing, fever, cold and cough, snake and insect biting and digestive problem.
