Abstract

Linear algebra is the mathematical field whose use greatly increases image processing. Specially, this category of mathematics is used heavily in digital image watermarking. This work aims to demonstrate the effectiveness of the use of algebraic singular value decomposition (SVD) in the process of digital watermarking. A watermarking scheme for image authentication based on algebraic SVD is proposed in which the same operations on the original image and the watermark to accomplished the embedding and extraction processed are performed. Doing this scheme without using any other function to process the image to hide the watermark indicates that algebraic SVD is a successful method because of its properties related to eigenvalues that are used to modify the image. Furthermore, this work shows that the results are acceptable with fairly good visual quality and resistance to some attacks.
