Abstract

Technology application in sports and physical education has been known to be an emerging discipline, as it connects three distinctive fields: physical education, sports and technology
science together. Technology in physical education and sports is concerned to design and develop new sports equipment and devices based on the increasing demands by athletes, and
in addition, to gauge athletes’ sports related performance and output. It is apparent that technology science and advancement has been playing a vital part not only in making physical
education and sporting activities more safe and entertaining but also providing aid to individuals to improve their performance as an athlete. This study draws insights into how adoption of technology have affected both physical education as well as sports. Apart from technological impact, the historical perspective of the use of technology in physical education and sports is also described. In addition, research conducted across the various fields worldwide is also elaborated. A brief note on application of technology in physical education and sports sciences and related research is also highlighted.
