Abstract

The nanocomposites have attracted many researchers as a fast growing class of materials because of their promising properties for many engineering applications. The many methods have been used for manufacturing of nanocomposites. This review considers various reported studies in the field of Carbon nanotubes for fabrication of nanocomposites. There are various methods of manufacturing CNT-polymer, CNT-Ceramic and CNT- Metal matrix composites. While fabrication of nanocomposites there are few common challenges encountered out of which dispersion of CNT in the matrix is the major issue which greatly affects the mechanical and physical properties of nanocomposites. Present work includes the discussion on diffusion of carbon and interfacial bonding. Study also reviews the various processing methods for uniform dispersion of reinforced carbon nanotubes. The review also addresses the effect on various mechanical properties.
