Dynamic Analysis Of Soft Storied Structures

Abstract

- India has a history of disastrous earthquakes. The zoning of earthquake divides map
of India into 4 seismic zones (Zone II, III, IV and V). Many of the apartments in India are of
G+5 soft storied structures where the ground floor has no infill for the purpose of car parking.
These structures perform poorly during a strong earthquake. In this study, G+ 5 soft storey
structure is modelled in all the four zones. Time History Analysis is performed and results are
discussed. The structure is modelled in ETABS.
