Abstract

Investment Decision is associated with the application of investing in different types of funds with the goal of increasing their returns or wealth appreciation. Investment decision is to be made by an investor to accomplish an optimistic, social, cultural, and environmental gain and to some extent of monetary return. Retail investors have been seen that, they have a very little fraction of investment in Indian equity market. The key rationale of the study is to inspect the behaviour of retail equity investors in Uttarakhand. In order to evaluate the decision of Equity investment of Retail investors in Uttarakhand, a qualitative research method has been taken and six exploratory questions were asked to investigate individual’s attitude in Uttarakhand while making an equity investment decision for Retail investors. For the collection of data, semi structured interviews were applied. The time duration of each interviewee was about 20 to 25 minutes. In all ten interviews were conducted in Dehradun city. The study concluded that their decision of an investment is based on feelings of comfort or principle instead of quantitative analysis. Their investment decision is largely influenced by psychological biases, challenges is being solved through experience. The investors think that demographic and economic factors of the state stimulate enhanced investment decision making process.
