Abstract

Ruskin Bond firmly believes that man is a mixture of both vices and virtues in this way even, the so called villains have a streak of nobility and circumstances are largely to blame for them being so. Bond’s characters range from thief, to prostitutes, to greedy, shy, stubborn, murderers yet his treatment of them does not ignite any dislike or hatred among the readers for these characters stoically accept their life and live it. Stoicism is endurance of pain or hardship without the display of feelings and without complaint. The researcher in this paper has attempted to explore the presence of stoicism in the child characters of Ruskin Bond. The Impact of stoicism on the lives of these characters and their future and the difference between stoicism and failure. The future of stoicism as part of positive psychology.
