Design of Electromagnetic Band Gap Structure on Ultra-Wideband Antenna for the Application of Notch Band

Abstract

This In this article, an ultra wideband (UWB) hexagonal patch with a coplanar waveguide (CPW) feed with single notch band of 802.11a (WLAN-wireless local area network) in the pass band of UWB is proposed. The antenna(or Aerial) uses a dielectric substrate (FR-4) having the volume of 50(L)×48(W)×1(h) mm3 and a partial ground plane. A rectangular planar electromagnetic-band gap (EBG) structure having an area of 7.7×3.5 mm2 is printed at the bottom side of the feed with connecting through pin for getting the notch band (5-6 GHz) application.
