Abstract

Every crisisenvelops positive and negative opportunities, if perceived holistically. This adage holds true to its very core when we view the recent COVID-19 pandemic that has crippled the world economy with India being no exception. The grim environment presented by COVID-19 provided an opportunity to the policy makers towards realizing and unleashing the nation’s innate potential and give a call for ‘the Atamnirbhar Bharat’ (the self-reliant India).Amid this, the long-standing demand of a new educational paradigm was met in the form of announcement of National Education Policy, which this paper attempts to posit it as a vehicle of change towardsinfusing inclusive technological use in education and building a self-reliant India. The scope of the present paper includes an analysis of the provisions of National Education Policy and its influence on creating an enabling environment towards the ultimate aim of an atamnirbharbharat through massive impetus on ICT in the form of e-learning. An understanding about the prevailing education system is also provided and the need for bringing National Education Policy has been outlined in the light of the 21st-century.
