Abstract

Engineering and construction firms have to embrace integrated processes and systems to be competitive; however, a shift in working processes is required to embed these within organizational structures. Literature has primarily focused on processes and technologies when it comes to BIM adoption and has downplayed factors such as human agents. At the same time, People Dimension are paramount towards implementing BIM in organizations. The objective is to develop a management framework that integrates People Dimension. The methodology adopted includes a literature review and case study to develop a conceptual framework underpinned with a change management strategy. Interviews were conducted at organization X with Staff from a high level to low-level management and practice. The result and findings offer (i) Readiness of People Dimension towards BIM implementation (ii) a framework- People Dimension towards BIM change management (iii) supported by KPIs for the framework. The study can conclude that the proposed framework could facilitate management in organizations to take BIM from its proponents to the broader workforce, integrate BIM into the daily work routine, promote a better understanding of the current best practice, and turn digital-driven practices into collaboration and exchange working approaches. Then, BIM comes to be more naturally embedded within organizational practices.
