Electric Vehicle Wheel Drive Analysis Using Direct Torque Fuzzy Control Method

Abstract

Actual trends for Electric Vehicle (EV) Induction Motor Drive focus Space Vector Modulation technique based Direct Torque Control - (DTC-SVM) or Intelligent DTC.  This paper presents a Direct Torque Fuzzy Control (DTFC) applied to the control of a 2-wheel Electric Vehicle Drive utilizing an Electronic Differential (ED) with two-induction motor rear drive wheels. The principle of the developed control system consists of introducing an intelligent fuzzy logic technique, which permits the dynamic of fuzzy rules to be adjusted in order to accelerate the convergence towards a desired performance.  Simulation via Matlab/Simulink and comparison between DTC-SVM and DTFC Drives for various road constraints show DTFC is an alternative technique.
