Abstract

The simple interpretation of Internet of Things is communication through standard internet protocol for human to human and human to things in a defined network using wireless devices and sensors. The IoT is a rapidly growing technology in manufacturing industry. The main aim behind IoT acceptance is to reduce manufacturing cost by increasing machine to machine communication. The machine to machine communication is made possible using Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) tags, sensors etc. However, data flow among wireless devices and sensors through internet can be an easy source for hackers. Hence, it is assumed that awareness of security threats is a main concern in adoption of IoT.  This paper will explore different elements of IoT and its architecture. The paper will also explore if security threats awareness impacts adoption of IoT in manufacturing industry in and around Mumbai.
