Abstract

Job satisfaction is the attitude, feeling or emotions that people have towards their
work or about various facet of work. In today’s era, retaining the talented employees has become
one of the challenging goals for the organization because of global competition. Job satisfaction, job
performance and employee retention/ employee turnover are interrelated with each other. Employee
retention is the process which deals with motivating the employees to remain with the organization
for a longer duration. Employees today are different. The most challenging goal for the organization
in the present generation lies in developing a workplace that employees want to remain with and
outsiders want to be hired into. Therefore, an organizations foremost responsibility is to retain its
skilled employees and this can be accomplished by engaging the employees and by keeping the
employees satisfied and motivated. Understanding the relationship between employee’s job
satisfaction and retention is important because it is believed to have an impact on employee’s
performance. The study collected data from 80 respondents. The study used descriptive and
analytical research design. The study concluded that intrinsic factors influence job satisfaction more
than the extrinsic factors and also revealed that there existed a positive relationship between
employee retention and job satisfaction.
