A Study on Translational Strategies and Methods of Culture-loaded Words in An Empty Room

Abstract

Guided by Newmark’s translational theories, it is likely to work out a successful translation only if the translator can deal with the transformation of culture-loaded words acceptably and accurately. Based on Nida’s cultural classification, the essay aims at analyzing the strategies and methods of how to translate culture-loaded words suitably by taking An Empty Room as an example, which is a masterpiece of translation practices of culture-loaded words given by Tong Ming whose skillful and various translational techniques successfully accomplish a dynamic balance between the strategies of domestication and foreignization.
