Modification to the Cellular Automata Model for Predicting Cracking Patterns of Masonry Walls

Abstract

This paper tried to improve the prediction precision by modifying the state value of each cell in the CA model of masonry wall. The state value of each cell determined the similar zones on the wall and finally influenced the precision of prediction results. The transfer function was applied to calculate the state value, thus this paper investigated the effects of the initial boundary value and the transfer coefficient on the transfer function, and then introduced two parameters into the transfer function to modify the initial boundary value and the transfer coefficient respectively by considering the size effect of the wall.
