Design and Field Analysis of Aerodynamic Devices on FSC Racing Car

Abstract

Based on the FSC racing car, the basic model of car body was established by using three-dimensional modeling software CATIA. A set of aerodynamic devices including the front wing, the diffuser and rear wing were designed. Then the FLUENT software was used to analyze the outflow field of the built racing car model, the aerodynamic performance of the racing car before and after refitting was compared and analyzed. Analysis results show that after aerodynamic package is added to the racing car, though the whole car resistance is increased, the aerodynamic lift features is changed from positive to negative, and the overdraft is enhanced by a large margin, the lift drag ratio is increased obviously as well. Hence aerodynamic performance and steering stability of racing car are improved. The rationality of the design scheme is further verified through experiment of the real car.
