Abstract

This work is devoted to investigating solution heat treatment's effect on microstructure, percentage % of ferrite: austenite phase, tensile strength, yield strength, % of elongation, and hardness of duplex stainless steel 2205. The stainless steel type 2205 treated at different temperature (1000,1050,1100,1150,1200,1250,1300) °C for 30 min and then quenching in water.

Optical microscopy has been carried out to examine the microstructure. We observed that the solution heat treatment temperature was tended to increase the percentage of ferrite than austenite. The results present that the Vickers hardness," yield strength " and ultimate tensile strength increased with rising temperatures but decreased elongation rate.
